London
This super prime residential development was set within a gated private mews, overlooking Lords Cricket ground in St. John’s Wood. The property was Grade II listed and had been sympathetically extended with a basement running beneath the front and rear gardens.
RSL worked with private property developers and the interior designe to deliver a sleek, uncluttered garden with some lovely classical surprises.
First, pleached and multi-stemmed trees were introduced to give the garden a formal structure and provide privacy.
Several garden ‘rooms’ were created in the rear garden and RSL used sawn York stone to echo the house’s pared back Georgian elegance and to link the various garden ‘rooms’, continuing it through the rooms either as stepping-stones or as a border to the lawn.
The front garden was laid out formally, the space framed by barrelled Quercus ilex. The addition of heating and focal water feature meant the owners could enjoy the space all the year round. Lush, green planting and an abundance of white flowers soften the formality and makes the garden a welcoming private haven.
