A two-storey garden sanctuary created in collaboration with Blue Forest
For the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024, RSL collaborated with Blue Forest Treehouses to create The Botanical Treehouse — a two-storey garden installation on Main Avenue that blended landscape design, architecture and botanical craft. Set amongst silver birch and lush garden planting, the structure offered visitors an immersive experience that moved seamlessly between grown-up refinement and a sense of woodland enchantment.
The landscape design centred on edible and aromatic botanicals, framing an elevated entertainment deck and outdoor bar. At ground level, a sheltered children’s retreat introduced colour, playful swings and a sense of discovery, ensuring the space appealed to visitors of all ages. Rising above the garden, the entertainment tower provided expansive views across the show and a calm place to pause, explore and take in the planting whilst surrounded by the treetop woodland.
The planting design drew inspiration from the soft, natural rhythm of a forest understory. Specimen trees anchored the scheme and linked both levels of the garden, creating a grounded woodland atmosphere at the lower level and a canopy experience on the upper terrace. Layers of greens, whites and subtle accents were positioned by hand to create a natural, flowing arrangement that felt rooted in place.
The Botanical Treehouse was awarded Five Stars and Best in Show Trade Stand, recognising the collaboration, craftsmanship and attention to detail that shaped the installation.
We are grateful for the warm reception the installation received and for the many visitors who shared the experience with us throughout the week.
