Old Church Street, Chelsea
- Town Gardens
- Urban Locations
Located in the heart of Chelsea, this bonsai garden was a test of our design skills. The property developer wanted to marry the new-build house with an adjacent mews house. The latter was to be used as guest accommodation and required access to the garden from both a studio room upstairs and a lower-level bedroom. Access from the main house was via the kitchen-dining room on the lower ground floor. Even though the garden was of very limited proportions, it was part of the brief that there should be a terrace area for sitting and dining. Structurally, the garden had to meet strict weight constraints as it was built over an underground car park.
