Berkshire Country Estate
Our objective for this wonderful Berkshire estate was to evolve the existing garden by coming up with a more structured design in order to create year-round colours, develop a series of garden rooms leading down from the main house and provide more interesting views.
A long driveway approaches the estate with a walled garden on one side and fields on the other, the largest of which we transformed into parkland with a running track around the perimeter. The newly planted trees and wild flowers connect through to the woodland that surrounds the main part of the garden, creating further paths and a stunning tapestry of Bluebells to give seasonal interest.
The rectangular pool garden leads up to the circular lawn and is connected to the side driveway, as well as down to the restored sunken garden. The new pergola is planted with Roses and Clematis and a low herbaceous border comprising Iris, Peony and Lavender.
The benches are accessed by stepping stones in the lower garden. The views take in the palette of planting which is made up of Cardoon, Eupatorium and Macleaya, along with Molinia, Guava and Coreopsis which all give a colourful display to this English garden.
