Randle Siddeley were invited to create gracious, Georgian gardens and townscapes for a distinctive development of luxury villas and parkland in the traditional English Garden style. Located in Shanghai adjacent to the vibrant Hongqiao central commercial district, the site has excellent connections to the city and access to some of the best schools and surrounding infrastructure. Queensgate at Qingpu is a landmark project for the city that embodies the essence of the finest English outdoor spaces.
Our landscape experts and designers set about devising a green master plan that works with the new urban landscape, and creates a ‘garden of treasures’ for the new international community. Situated alongside a river, the site is made up of villas gathered around a central area of landscaped parkland with sculpted landforms and ponds. Planting has been used widely to create a rich variety of green spaces for couples and families to use as well as being ecologically sensitive. A fitness trail and cycleway features along the river bank which connects through to neighbouring areas and provides valuable marginal planting habitats for animals and birds. Classically inspired gazebos and carefully crafted timber seats are located along paths to provide resting places to watch wildlife and focal features from the approaching avenues.
There is a wonderful avenue of Liriodendron trees lining the driveway to the Clubhouse, Randle Siddeley selected over sixty of these large, deciduous trees because of their attractively lobed leaves and green and orange, tulip-shaped flowers that form a lovely canopy in summer; combined with distinctive colour and vigorous growth habit they a make an excellent arrival statement.
All gardens respond to the English tradition, and combine beautifully proportioned terraces, lawns and borders in a variety of layouts to suit different plot characteristics and house styles.
